Back in April 2012 I traveled to Savannah, Georgia with a couple of co-workers for a conference. Each evening we would try to take in the sights around town and out to the beach. I took a lot of pictures especially of Bonaventure Cemetery.…

Here’s some scans from a box of slides that are probably from about 1965. They feature pictures from Marineland and Sebring. I’m unsure of the exact dates. The pictures of Spirit of America reference the record breaking run in 1964.
WWDC 2014 starts in about a week. I’m sure that by this time next week there will be a line around Moscone West waiting to get in to hear what new offerings Apple has for their community. I was lucky enough to have been in that line over a dozen times going back to the late 90’s when the event was held in San Jose.…

If you’re ever in Hawaii on the island of Oahu I recommend a visit to Hanauma Bay (photo: http://panoramio.com/photo/25584412) for snorkeling. It is a beautiful spot and there’s a lot to see within an easy walk down from the main road and a short swim to the reef.…

Back at the motel I was hanging out by the pool under a nearly full moon. I was watching the other guests come into the parking lot and noticed a small gray cat skulking around. The cat was obviously people-weary but it ran toward each recently parked car or truck.…

This morning as I was walking out of my hotel to the parking lot I had a double-take trying to find my rental car. I had rented some Japanese mid-size white sedan. As is my habit I try to notice my license plate number when I rent a car to help locating it later should that become necessary.…

Just as the coaster was about to pull away to begin the ride, I fired up V-Cockpit GPS by Alexander Gross on my iPhone and held it firmly for the duration of the road. Space Mountain peaked at 2 G’s and bottomed out at -1 G.…

I recently purchased a plane ticket for a quick personal trip. During the online purchase process I was confronted with a new option that I had not seen. I was given the chance to pay more for my $230 ticket. For only another $28 I would get Group 1 boarding, the option to fly standby and a $75 savings on the $150 change fee should I want to change my flight.…

Dr. Michael Johnson is a great presenter. I love his style and anecdotes. I’ve seen him present at 4 or 5 WWDCs over the years. Unfortunately these sessions are protected under NDA and are not available for re-broadcast anywhere. Dr. Johnson is particularly good because he primarily talks about creating technology solutions to real world business workflows.…

Each year Apple hosts a little corporate private party for the end of WWDC. It used to be back on the Apple Campus but for the last few years it has been held at the Yerba Buena Gardens. I’ve taken some pictures each year.…
