September Moon

NASA has two more launch opportunities at the end of this month if they can get permission from Space Force. The limiting factor is the certification on some batteries that are part of the rescue system. As a safety system you want to make sure all the parts work. The certification says they are good for 30 days since installation. A launch date later this month would be more than that time since Artemis rolled out August 15th. There is precedent for the safety waiver being granted. We shall see. Until that waiver is granted, NASA has not announces officially when the next launch attempt will be. It current is no earlier than September 23rd. There is a two hour window that day. That is at the tail end of the range of launch opportunities so a second attempt would only be 70 minutes.

I’m of course interested in this announcement and timing as a holder of a launch viewing ticket. We shall see what happens.

I’ve created a Google calendar to make it easier to overlay with my personal calendar. Some of the blocked dates make sense when you overlay it with the Worldwide Space Launch calendar.
