Texas in the Time of COVID-19

Texas is reopening for business and I’m not sure how I feel about that. Last month I started seeing more masks appearing in public. Maybe one in three people wearing masks at Total Wine. Yesterday I made a quick dash into a local convenience store and there was no one but me wearing. This is distressing when you look at the daily new cases graph to see that it is turning the wrong way now two weeks into the month.

My local county is not much better. I also realize that it is very difficult to get a test. The only people I know getting tested are those going into the hospital to have some procedure or having a baby, only to find out that they were asymptomatically positive.

For now, I plan to stay at home and take the New Zealand “Bubble” approach, gradually increasing my contact with other people.
