Despite a lousy movie-going experience, I found the theatrical presentation of the first two episodes of the Amazon Prime series, Undone, to be quite compelling. The presentation format is primarily a rotoscoped cartoon. We’ve seen this before in A Scanner Darkly or Heavy Metal. All I knew about it was that it starred Rosa Salazar who previously starred as Alita. It also co-stars Bob Odenkirk.
I enjoyed it enough that I will keep watching it to finish the 8-episode series on September 13th. Salazar is wonderful as a deaf, jewish, latina, San Antonio girl surviving a car crash and learning about her new point of view on the nature of time. I saw potential to explore mental illness from the inside.
