Companion and Subservience are Just Terminator Prequels

I just watched a couple of movies that could easily be prequels for The Terminator or Blade Runner. The both feature a domestic android that ends up going on a killing spree. One looks like it was cut from Terminator 3 while the other looks like a suburban version of Wild Robot. In either case, Arnold would approve.

Subservience features Megan Fox as a domestic robot, Alice, who is filling in while the mom is in the hospital wainting for a heart transplant. Alice figures out how to edit her own code and starts killing everyone to protect here primary user. She is able to pass this on to other Androids as the movie ends. It’s time to read some Daniel H. Wilson, How to Survive the Robot Uprising.

Subservience

The Companion takes the Stepford Wives approach where the robot is just there to serve her primary user. Once again, someone comes along and disables he safety protections and mayhem ensues. The movie is actual a pretty good dark comedy with some obvious nods to Blade Runner and Terminator. The ending is less the end of humanity as it is the birth of a new species on the planet. The TV series Humans would be a good pairing with this movie.
