Back in 1988 I took a summer job working for a construction company. This company built cabinets. I designed a pair of tablets that could be used as portable writing workspaces. The were simply a piece of particle board with maroon colored formica surfaces. They were very solid and very heavy. You could sit with one in your lap and use it as a portable workspace. Eventually they were used as a portable laptop desk. My kids used them as a hard surface when coloring n the floor. They have also been used to block doorways for kittens and ferrets. As the kids got older and laptops got smaller to be eventually replace with iPads these tablets got less and less used. After 24 years the glue holding the formica to the wood has finally let go. It’s time to retire these tablets to history.
