In an attempt to save $100 I opted for the least expensive 16GB iPad. This size has served me well in the past. With iCloud and DropBox, who needs more. I do. The crux of the problem for me is PhotoStream. It automatically downloads the last 1000 pictures you took. Unfortunately my pictures are five to eight megabytes each. That adds up. So I was using somewhere between a quarter and half of my memory for just the pictures. If you add the iLife suite, the memory is pretty much full. My only option is to turn off PhotoStream on the iPad. Fortunately my phone has 32GB and I can send pictures to the iPad using iPhoto if I need them there.
