Received your letter last evening on my return from picket duty¹ but I have no time to reply except by writing a few lines as I have but little time. We have just been through inspection and in about half an hour we have got to fall in for services. You spoke about Bronin’s wanting to borrow my tools or buying them. As for selling them that is out of the question. You can do as you please about lending them. The shiver² you can sell and that keel share that I bought off Dick. The rest I don’t want to sell. I send you today a receipt from Capt. Cheney so you can draw the money from the town as it is due before now. I wish that I had more time to write but every man has to go to church so I must obey orders. I will write more when I get time. You may sell those lasts if you are sure of getting the pay. You can sell them for as much as you can get for them. There is nothing of importance for news here. We expect to stay here this winter but we may be ordered away at any moment but I must stop here as it is about time to fall in for services, so good-bye from your ever loving husband
